CARE Program

Children’s Law Center’s CARE program provides critical interventions to children and youth in foster care who are particularly vulnerable to these negative outcomes – youth who are dually involved with the juvenile justice system and expectant or parenting youth.  The CARE program integrates a unique legal and clinical social work collaboration by utilizing graduate student social workers to serve as intensive case managers for foster youth.

The CARE team ensures that youth are linked to resources and addresses any existing gaps in services. Reduced caseloads, frequent and meaningful communication, empathetic support, and the use of a trauma-focused clinical perspective contribute to the CARE team’s successful and effective case management model.

Youth in foster care face an exceptionally high risk of multi-generational child welfare involvement, homelessness, mental health issues, low educational attainment and incarceration.
